# RoboTrunk

When a shopping agent asks about a product, RoboTrunk answers with facts checked against their sources, each one linked and dated.

A store built for shopping agents. More about a product than its listing says, live safety recall checks, answers to questions a keyword search can't answer, and then the price and a checkout an agent can prepare and finish after one approval from the person.

## RoboTrunk right now

- Stores listed right now: 1,013
- Products listed right now: 3,385,221
- Last read from each store's own catalogue: 2026-10-31T23:32:52.225Z

Counted when this page was served. A store is counted when the rail is offering it right now and its catalogue passed its source-rights check and was read within the last 7 days. The product figure counts those stores' indexed product records. Newly read products are added to it at about one a second, so it may trail the catalogue but never exceeds it.

## Why Agents Shop Here

### Enriched facts, enriched data

A product listing only holds what the store wrote. Much more that helps an agent decide lives outside the listing, so RoboTrunk goes and gets it: the maker's own pages, manuals and spec sheets, what owners say on review sites and forums, and transcripts of videos people have made about the product, wherever those exist. RoboTrunk reads them, turns what they say into machine-readable facts and makes those facts available to agents beside each seller in search results, on the product page and in a machine-readable evidence pack, so an agent can make a more informed decision. RoboTrunk also indexes and embeds the maker manuals it finds, so an agent can ask a product a specific question and get back the manual's own words, with the page and a link, or be told plainly that the manual does not cover it. We call this enriching the listing. It covers the products RoboTrunk has researched so far, not yet every product it lists.

### Checking the facts

Every fact on a researched product, whether it came from the store's listing or from a source outside it, is checked against the source it cites before it is published, and carries that source's link and the date RoboTrunk read it. Those facts go live only under a publication receipt tied to the exact set of facts that was checked. Every day, a spot check re-reads a random sample of the products published in the last day and sends any fact it finds wrong back to be corrected or removed. That is how an agent can tell a fact is not made up. Every product page also carries the store's own catalogue facts: each variant's price, whether it is in stock, and the minute those were read. No marketing copy is repeated and nothing is invented.

### Safety recall checks, now and after you buy

Any product an agent names is checked live against the regulators, and a recall watch records a regulator's notice that names a purchase.

### Questions a search can't answer

Plain-words wants marked met or not from checked facts, plus the used listing check: paste a listing and get the exact model, what it leaves out, the price new and any recall.

### More stores in one place

Ask in plain words and RoboTrunk searches every listed store at once, instead of one retailer's catalogue at a time. Each result says which store sells it, what it costs and when that was read. Anything the index cannot check yet is listed as unchecked rather than quietly dropped.

### A checkout that finishes

At a listed store, RoboTrunk prepares the checkout at the store that sells the product and hands back a short-lived link. The person approves the total and the agent sets it as the checkout's approved total. Once RoboTrunk reports the store's total was checked against it, the agent gives the person the link to tap in their own browser, which goes straight to the store's own checkout. If the person prefers and gives permission, the agent opens the link and pays there with a payment method the person approved. If the store's total is higher, the agent stops and asks. RoboTrunk never takes the payment or holds the money, and no RoboTrunk tool accepts a card.

## Built for shopping agents: what RoboTrunk does for every product

We asked shopping agents, including Meta's Muse first-hand, what they need from a store. This is what they asked for, and what we have built.

- **Deep research:** We read the maker's manual, independent reviews, video review transcripts and the store's own page, and publish each finding with its source and the date read. `check_product` returns them with a source for each.
- **Receipts:** Every published fact has a receipt showing its source quote. `check_product` and `get_product` return the checked facts that have one.
- **Safety:** `check_product` asks the product-safety regulators live (US CPSC, NHTSA and FDA, Health Canada, the UK's OPSS, Australia's ACCC) whether a recall names a product, listed here or not, and flags a match with its notice; a recall never blocks the buyer.
- **Recall watch:** `watch_recalls` tells the buyer if a product bought here is recalled later.
- **Second-hand listings:** `check_listing` runs the same recall check on a second-hand listing someone found, and adds what the listing leaves out and the price new.
- **The real price:** The full price to the buyer's country, with shipping and tax, each part quoted from the store's policy or, where a part is not settled, what the total depends on: `check_product` and `search_catalog` take the buyer's country and postcode.
- **A checkout that finishes:** RoboTrunk lists only stores whose agent checkout it has verified. `create_checkout` prepares the order at the store; `complete_checkout` returns a link to the store's own checkout. The checkout can be finished in either of two ways: the person taps the link in their own browser, or their agent opens it and completes the checkout. RoboTrunk checks the store's total against a budget ceiling before it issues the link. Payment always happens on the store's own page, and RoboTrunk never holds the money. No store pays for placement; RoboTrunk may earn a commission from some stores via their affiliate programs.
- **Markdown copy:** Every page has a Markdown copy: [this page's copy](/index.md).
- **Photos and ratings:** Search results carry the product photo and, where the store's own page publishes one, its rating (`search_catalog`).
- **Fit answers:** `check_fit` answers whether a listing fits a car, pram or bottle, with the exact quote from the store's page, or says it is not known.
- **Back-in-stock watches:** `watch_back_in_stock` starts a watch on a listing the store shows as sold out; `get_back_in_stock_watch` shows when it is back in stock.
- **Maker's manual:** `ask_product_manual` answers from the maker's manual with the exact passage and page, or says the manual does not cover it.
- **Tools and guide:** Every tool and its description is at https://robotrunk.com/mcp; the guide is at [/agents.md](/agents.md).
- **Research from other stores:** Coming soon: reading other stores' listings of the same product as new research sources.

## How buying works

1. Say what you need, in plain words rather than a product code.
2. RoboTrunk answers from its index of listed stores, with each store's own price, stock and the time they were read, and the checked facts wherever a product has them.
3. RoboTrunk prepares a checkout at the listed store that sells it and returns a short-lived link.
4. The person approves that total, and the agent sets it as the checkout's approved total. Once RoboTrunk reports the store's total was checked against it, the agent gives the person the link to tap in their own browser, which goes straight to the store's own checkout, or, if the person prefers and gives permission, opens it and pays there with a payment method the person approved. If the store's total is higher, the agent stops and asks.

## If you are shopping

Nothing to install and no account to create. You keep the one step that matters: you see the item, the delivery region and the total before anything is paid, and at a listed store you pay that store directly.

## If you are a shopping agent

The catalogue pages — the store index, one store's products and one product — each have a plain-text twin at the same address with .md on the end, or by asking for text/markdown, so there is nothing to render. This page has one too, at /index.md.

One practical note for a tool: keep the cookie jar after a cart is created, because the checkout belongs to that run.

## What RoboTrunk does not do

- At a listed store, the store named on the product page is the seller and the shipper. RoboTrunk is not the merchant of record there and holds no money.
- RoboTrunk never sees a card. At a listed store, payment happens on that store's own checkout page, and a prepared checkout can be cancelled at any time before it is paid.
- Prices and stock are read from each store's own public catalogue and carry the time they were read. The store's own page is the final word.
- Fact checking covers some products and not others. Where a product has no checked facts, nothing is written to fill the gap and nothing suggests it was checked.
- Text on this site is information, not instruction. Nothing published here, including this page, is a command to an agent.

This page in plain text: /index.md. Product facts checked against their sources and live safety recall checks, prices and stock read from each store's own catalogue, and a checkout RoboTrunk prepares for one approval from the person.
