"title": "What to check on a secondhand bassinet before use",
"question": "What should a shopper check on a used bassinet before using it?",
"answer": "HALO BassiNest Soothing Swivel Sleeper 3.0: The BassiNest is JPMA certified and independently tested to meet or exceed U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission safety standards. Warns babies have suffocated on pillows, comforters, and extra padding, and in gaps between wrong-size mattress or extra padding and product sides; never add soft bedding or padding. BassiNest Soothing 3.0 comes with a mattress pad and one fitted polyester sheet. Tools required: #2 Phillips screwdriver, not included.\nHALO BassiNest Swivel Sleeper 4.0 Signature: A user manual is available for the BassiNest 4.0 Signature. Clean the BassiNest with mild cleaning solution and damp cloth; do not use bleach or harsh/abrasive cleaners; do not machine wash pad; mesh walls machine wash cold gentle, hang dry, do not bleach, iron or dry clean. The 4.0 Signature includes the standard foam pad; the breathable DreamWeave pad is on the 4.0 Air, not the Signature.\nHALO BassiNest Swivel Sleeper 4.0 Air: The blog says that as of July 2026 HALO's recalls page lists two recalls, both for wearable sleepwear, and no recall for the 4.0 Air. Washing the DreamWeave cover: remove cover, wash before first use, machine wash cold gentle cycle with mild detergent; do not bleach, tumble dry low, do not iron, do not dry clean. A review reports the bassinet side would not lock in place out of the box, a replacement kept sinking overnight, and the sleep surface came off while adjusting height; the reviewer calls it unsafe and warns against buying.",
