# Downsides of kids' crib mattresses What are the main downsides of kids' crib mattresses to know before buying? Naturepedic Verse Organic Mattress: A reviewer's first impression was that the mattress felt very dense and heavy compared with others, which they took as a sign of quality\. Owners report a smell when the mattress is first unpacked that lingers a while, described as earthy rather than chemical, and said not to feel worrying\. The same review lists as drawbacks a single firm feel, no King or California King option, a quilted surface that is not waterproof and needs a fitted protector, and a 9\-inch height that may exceed some bunk\-bed guardrail or frame limits\. Naturepedic 2\-in\-1 Waterproof Organic Kids Mattress: The reviewer describes it as noticeably heavy and sturdy for a kids mattress, needing two people to carry it out of the box\. Liquid along the binding and sides of the mattress can seep inside, so keep moisture away from the edges and sides\. Bedtime Reviews describes a firm feel for toddlers, medium\-firm for older children and medium for adults, and reports that sleepers above about 150 lbs may experience sagging and feel the springs\. Naturepedic Breathable Organic 2\-Stage Baby Crib Mattress: The lightweight version uses the patented WaveSupport core; for the innerspring version retailers and an independent review give 252 coils, while the maker's FAQ says 150 coils and its 'What's Inside' list says 144 coils, so the sources disagree on the coil count\. ### 1. Prices and stock change, so this page prints neither: each product name links to its RoboTrunk page, which shows them live\. Written 2026-10-20T01:17:56.912Z. This page is published by RoboTrunk, a store built for shopping agents. The store named on this page sells the product and ships it. RoboTrunk is not the seller and never holds the money. Buying works in one path. RoboTrunk's tools prepare a checkout at that store, then hand back a short-lived link. The person approves the total; once RoboTrunk has checked the store's total against it, the person is given the checkout link to tap in their own browser, or, if the person prefers and gives permission, their agent may open the link and finish there, and payment always happens on the store's own checkout page. RoboTrunk never takes the payment or sees a card.
